The Falling Away

The Falling away ?

2 Thess 2:1 “NOW we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
2
That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.3
Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
4
Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.”

I recently read that the Covid 19 virus situation has caused 1/3 of Christians to stop going to church. Is this the falling away from the faith spoken of in 2 Thessalonians?
I believe the Day of Christ mentioned here is speaking of the rapture. Scripture (not tradition) teaches there must be a falling away first, and also, the Antichrist must be revealed.
The only scriptures speaking of his possible “revelation” is in Daniel 9:27, where he “confirms the covenant with many”, this is the 7 year final week (70th) of Daniel. Does this include the present treaty already signed “by many” that allows Israel to “annex” Judea and Samaria? I don’t know. The only other place in scripture where the Antichrist could be said to be “revealed”, is when he goes into the temple and commits the abomination of desolation.
