God’s Record of fulfillment.
We could fill many books listing many predictions made by the prophets of God centuries before they happen. God used Moses to warn the children of Israel that when they left off worshiping Him, and turned to idols, He would scatter them throughout the world. This happened twice. They are once again, redeemed out of the nations and have their own country.
I will only concentrate on just some of the predictions that came true in the life of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the Messiah of the Jews. The odds that just one man in history fulfilled only 12 of these predictions are 1 followed by 150 zeros. Only one man in history proved He was the predicted Messiah of Israel, Son of God, and Savior of the world. Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
Example: If you could fly over all the oceans of the world, and drop a ring into the water, and then someone else with a fishing pole and line, had one chance, and he did not know where you dropped the ring , to find it. That is the odds in one man fulfilling more than 300 prophecies and types predicted of the Messiah. The Old Testament told us to look for someone. The New Testament proves He came.
The Messianic Prophecies Fulfilled in Jesus Christ of Nazareth
There are in the Old Testament 332 distinct predictions which are literally fulfilled in Jesus Christ. We will not cover them all. These fulfilled prophecies prove without any doubt to the honest student of the scriptures that Jesus Christ of Nazareth was the promised Messiah of the Jewish people, and Savior of the world. It is impossible for any other conclusion to be made. Here are some of these prophecies, which prove that the Bible is the only book God ever wrote. Especially, see the 29 prophecies fulfilled in one 24 hr. period, on the day of the crucifixion of Christ!
Purpose of Messianic prophecy.
1. The God of the Bible is the only true God whose knowledge is infinite and whose Word is never broken. Numbers 23:19 “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?”
2. All things are subject to God’s Divine will. Isaiah 46:9- “Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, 10-Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:”
3. Messiah will absolutely be known, based on His credentials. Isaiah 48:3- “I have declared the former things from the beginning; and they went forth out of my mouth, and I shewed them; I did them suddenly, and they came to pass. 4 Because I knew that thou art obstinate, and thy neck is an iron sinew, and thy brow brass; 5 I have even from the beginning declared it to thee; before it came to pass I shewed it thee: lest thou shouldest say, Mine idol hath done them, and my graven image, and my molten image, hath commanded them.” Romans 1:2- “(Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,) 3 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; 4 And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:”
Appeal to Messianic prophecy.
Jesus Matthew 5:17- “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.”
Luke 24:27- “And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.”
Luke 24:44- “And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.”
John 5:39- “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. 40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.”
46- “For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.
47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?”
Matthew 13:14 (on parables) “And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:”
Matthew 11:10- (On John the Baptist) For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.”
Jesus was the chief corner stone, but was rejected. Matthew 21:42- “Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?”
Matthew 26:56- “But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.” The scripture came 100% true.
Mark 13:26 Here Jesus quotes the scripture , claiming this for Himself, in the future.
“ And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.”
(Compare with Daniel 7:13- “I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. 14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.”)
Luke 4:20-“And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. 21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.” Jesus claims He was fulfilling the scriptures.
Luke 22:37- “For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.” The prophecy said Jesus would be put to death among others being punished for their sins. Remember when He was crucified between 2 thieves?
John 15:25- “But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.” He never did one thing wrong. Yet they hated Him.
New Testament writers appeal to prophecies fulfilled in Jesus
1. Acts 3:18- “ But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled.”
2. Acts 10:43- “To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.”
3. Acts 13:29- “And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a sepulchre.”
4. Acts 17:2- “And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures, 3 Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ.”
5. 1 Corinthians 15:3- “For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”
6. Romans 1:2- “(Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,)”
7. 1 Peter 2:5- “Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. 6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.”
8. Matthew 2:4- “And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born. 5 And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet, 6 And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.”
Significance of predictive prophecy.
1. Concludes that there is a divine intellect behind the Old and
2. Establishes the fact of God.
3. Authenticates the Deity of Christ
4. Demonstrates the inspiration of the Bible
The Old Testament contains over 300 references to the Messiah that were fulfilled in Jesus
1. Objection? You might say, “The prophecies were written at or after the time of Jesus, and therefore fulfill themselves.
2. Answer. If you are not satisfied with 450 B.C. as the historic date for the completion of the Old Testament, then take into consideration the following: the Septuagint, the Greek translation of the Hebrew Scriptures, was initiated in the reign of Ptolemy Philadelphus (285-246 B.C.). It is rather obvious that if you have a Greek translation initiated in 250 B.C., then you had to have the Hebrew text from which it was written. This will suffice to indicate that there was at least a 250 year gap between the prophecies being written down and their fulfillment in the person of Christ.
Credentials of Jesus as the Messiah through fulfilled prophecy
Concerning His Birth.
1. Born of the seed of a woman.
Prophecy: Genesis 3:15- “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.”
Fulfilment: Galatians 4:4- “But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,”
Also Matthew 1:20- “But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.”
In the original oracle, God foretold the age long conflict which would be waged between ‘the seed of the woman”, and “the seed of the serpent”, which will be eventually won by Christ. This primitive promise indicates a struggle between the Messiah of Israel, the Saviour of the world, and Satan, the adversary of the human soul on the other hand.
Born of a virgin.
1. Prophecy: Isaiah 7:14- “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.”
2. Fulfillment: Matthew 1:18- “Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. vs. 24- “Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.”
A virgin is a marriageable maiden or young woman, pure, virgin.

12 He shall build me an house, and I will stablish his throne for ever.
13 I will be his father, and he shall be my son: and I will not take my mercy away from him, as I took it from him that was before thee: 14 But I will settle him in mine house and in my kingdom for ever: and his throne shall be established for evermore.”
Fulfillment: Matthew 3:17- “And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” Mathew 16:16- “And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.” See also- Mark 9:37, Luke 9:35, 22:70, Acts 13:30, John 1:34, 49

The importance of the event in Genesis 22:18 is established when we realize that God swears by Himself in His relationship to the patriarchs. In thy seed- one particular person shall descend from thee. The above passage determines that the Messiah would come through the Hebrew race.
Son of Isaac.
Prophecy: Genesis 21:12- “And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman; in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called.”

2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. 11- “And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.”

Fulfillment: Matthew 2:16- “Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men.

Dumb before accusers.
Prophecy: Isaiah 53:7- “He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.”
Fulfilled: Matthew 27:12- “And when he was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing. 13 Then said Pilate unto him, Hearest thou not how many things they witness against thee? 14 And he answered him to never a word; insomuch that the governor marvelled greatly.”
Wounded and bruised.
Prophesy: Isaiah 53:5- “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” Zechariah 13:6- “And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.”
Fulfilled: Matthew 27:26- “Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.”
Smitten and spit upon.
Prophecy: Isaiah 50:6- “I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.”
Fulfilled: Matthew 26:67- “ Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands,…”
Prophecy: Psalms 22:7- “All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying, 8 He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him.”

Hands and feet pierced.
Prophecy: Psalms 22:16- “For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.” Zechariah 12:10 – “And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.”
Fulfilled: Luke 23:33- “And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.” John 20:25- “The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.”
Crucified with thieves.
Prophecy: Isaiah 53:12- “Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.”
Fulfilled: Matthew 27:38- “Then were there two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left.”
Note: Crucifixion was a Roman punishment, it was unknown in Jewish law. The type of death pictured in Isaiah 53, and Psalm 22 did not come into practice under the Jewish system until hundreds of years after the account was written.
Made Intercession for His persecutors.
Prophecy: “…and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.”
Fulfilled: Luke 23:34- “Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.” Can we, as selfish sinners, imagine such perfect love? He was spit upon, beaten mocked, and being slowly tortured to death, yet He asked for His enemies to be forgiven. Such love!
Rejected by His own people.
Prophecy: Isaiah 53:3- “He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.”

Fulfilled: John 15:25- “But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.”
Friends stood far off.
Prophecy: Psalms 38:11- “My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my sore; and my kinsmen stand afar off.”
Fulfilled: Luke 23:49- “And all his acquaintance, and the women that followed him from Galilee, stood afar off, beholding these things.”
People shook their heads.

Fulfilled: Matthew 27:39- “And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads,”
Prophecy: Psalms 22:17- “I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me.”
Fulfilled: Luke 23:35- “And the people stood beholding….”
Garments parted and lots cast.
Prophecy: Psalms 22:18- “They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.”
Fulfilled: John 19: 23- “ Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout.
24 They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did.”
To suffer thirst:
Prophecy: Psalms 69:21- “They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.” Psalms 22:15- “My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.”

Fulfilled: Matthew 27:46- “And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?”
Committed Himself to God.
Prophecy: Psalms 31:5- “Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.”
Fulfilled: Luke 23:46- “And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.”
Bones not broken.
Prophecy: Psalms 34:20- “He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.”
Fulfilled: John 19:32- “Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him.
33 But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:”
Note: Jesus was also the fulfillment of all the symbolical ordinances as laid down through Moses in the pass-over lamb. There was not a bone to be broken. It was roasted (not sodden, he bore the wrath (fire) of God against sin.) The pass-over lamb was to be eaten at one time, not left for tomorrow, Jesus was not left to hang on the cross. It was a male lamb, it was to be spotless, Jesus was sinless. etc. There are two other prophecies also fulfilled concerning His bones. Psalms 22:14 speaks of ALL His bones being out of joint, crucifiction does this, and Psalms 22:17 says “they can tell all His bones” (as He hung on the cross).
Stop!! Think!! How infinite and infallible is our God, past figuring out. Who can know Him. These scriptures written, in some cases, thousands of years in advance, tell of a coming Savior, the Messiah of the Jews. Throughout the centuries, scribes and students of the Word waited for a person who would be “of the seed of a woman, born of a virgin, descended from Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, of the tribe of Judah, descendent of King David, born in Bethlehem.” He had to be preceded by “the voice crying in the desert (John the Baptist) He had to teach in parables, He had to do miracles, and at the grand conclusion of His life, we are now studying 29 prophecies fulfilled in one 24 hour period. It is like watching a video of a future event that has not happened yet. God writes things that have not yet come to pass, as if they have already happened. An invisible God, in control of everything. Genetic family lineage, language, etc. Even down to soldiers gambling for your clothes, all foretold. Only a very proud and spiritually blind person could deny the reality of God and deny the inspiration , and preservation of His perfect Word.
Prophecy: Psalm 22:14- “I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels.”
Fulfilled: John 19:34- “ But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.”
The blood and water which came out from His pierced side are evidence that the heart had literally burst.
His side pierced.
Prophecy: Zechariah 12:10- “And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.”
Fulfilled: John 19:34- “But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.”
Darkness over the land.
Prophecy: Amos 8:9- “And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord GOD, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day:”
Fulfilled: Matthew 27:45- “Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.”
Buried in rich man’s tomb.
Prophecy: Isaiah 53:9- “And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.”
Fulfilled: Matthew 27:57- “When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus’ disciple:
58 He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered. 59 And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, 60 And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.”
There we have it, Jesus Christ of Nazareth, Lord, King, High Priest, Savior, and Messiah of the Jews and the world. Amen, even so come Lord Jesus.
The Most amazing prophecy in the bible:
The book of Daniel was written about 605 B.C.. In Daniel 9:21-26
an Angel revealed to the prophet Daniel the total future History of the Nation of Israel. He said there would be 70 weeks of years until the Messiah would rein. This means 70 x 7, which equals 490 years. (A biblical year is 360 days). At that time, the Temple of Israel was destroyed, and Israel was in captivity in Babylon. The Angel told Daniel that from the time the order went forth to rebuild the walls of the Temple, which happened in 425 B.C., until the Messiah (Jesus) presented Himself, would be 69 weeks of years.. (69×7= 483 years). This prophecy was made 173,880 days into the future. It was fulfilled to the exact day, when Jesus rode into Jerusalem on the back of a little donkey. Just as the prophets said. This day was April 6, 32 A.D.
There still remains 7 years on God’s calendar dealing with the Nation of Israel, (This is called Daniel’s 70th week) when they will eventually accept Him as Messiah, and He will return then to reign for 1000 years, literally in Jerusalem. This is one of the main purposes of the Great Tribulation, called by Jeremiah “The time of Jacob’s trouble.” God will put intense pressure on the Jewish people, to turn to the Messiah, Jesus. Right now, as a people and nation, they do not accept Him, but they will. Zachariah 13:8 says that two thirds of the Israelis will be killed. The remnant will accept Him, and be born again, in one day, while they flee from the persecution of the world and the anti-christ.
Zachariah 13:8 “And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein. 9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God.”
