The Day of the Lord the Rapture of the Saints : Imminence verses Expectancy

The Day of the Lord
the Rapture of the Saints
Imminence verses Expectancy

We are taught to live, as if the Lord could come any moment, we are to expect Him.
We are also told that there are certain things that have to happen before He comes back for His Saints to gather them together in the Rapture.
1 Thessalonians 5:1- “But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.”

When He does come back, no one will expect it, it will be a surprise, as a thief in the night. No one knows the hour or the day.
But the bible does say there are some things that must happen first, before “The Day of the Lord”.

Things that must happen first:
1. The Apostasy must take place.
2. The Man of Sin (the Antichrist) must be revealed.

We do not follow what everyone else believes and does, this is tradition. We MUST follow what the scriptures teach alone.

2 Thessalonians 2:1 “Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. 3 ¶ Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.
7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.”

The believers in Thessalonica had been falsely, deceiveingly taught that the Coming of the Lord had already come. We can tell he is talking about the rapture because, among other things, he says “and by our gathering together unto Him,..” the coming of Christ was not imminent , it was not at hand. He then teaches this church that there are some things that must happen firsrt. Verse 3 says that day WILL NOT COME except there be a falling away first. This is known as the Apostacy. The falling away from the truth. Jesus said
” Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?” Luke 18:8
For the Born Again believer, things will be very bad. If we look at Matthew 24 , we are given a glimpse at the prevailing conditions for a believer that sill exist on the earth just before the Rapture. They will be persecuted and betrayed. No, a secret rapture, which many have been taught, does not take place. They do not get out of there, before the tribulatuon starts. The faith of many will fail, they shall be hated by all men. That is what Jesus told to expect. This will accelerate the falling away from the truths and doctrines of the Bible. It will not be an easy time to be a Christian.
Then, verse 3 says “and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.”
I was taught, and I preached for 36 years that we would not know who the antichrist was. That the “rapture ” would happen, BEFORE He was revealed. I was wrong. Sorry. The Bible just said the rapture, the Day of Christ, the gathering together unto Him, CAN NOT take place until the man of sin is revealed. Now you have a choice. You can believe the Bible.
Or you cm believe what you read in the “Left Behind Series” of books, or were taught.
I MUST believe the bible.
How will born again believers KNOW “this is the man of sin” the “antichrist”?
One way is that we are taught in the book of Daniel that the coming world dictator will sign a 7 year treaty, will “confirm it” for 7 years with Israel. Then after three and a half years, He will commit what Jesus called “the abomination of desolation”.
Daniel 9:27 “And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate,…”
One week here means 7 years.
When the World Dictator goes into the rebuilt Jewish Temple, after 3 1/2 years, and sets up a stature of Himself, and commands all men to worship him, this is the antichrist. then the Rapture is very closed. “Even at the doors”! (Matt. 24:33)

The Coming of the Lord is so much closer than ever before.
Can it happen any moment.
NO.
First the apostacy must occur, and then the antichrist, the Man of Sin, must be revealed.
Something to think about.
